pridefest zine
Ames Pridefest is proud to present our first Pridefest zine!
2020 has been an unusual year in a lot of ways. COVID-19 has reshaped the ways we conduct our lives. Protests against police brutality in the United States are happening around the world. The political landscape is changing. We unite in the fight against oppression.
People in marginalized communities have been publishing material for as long as the technology to do so has existed. While zines are not always political in nature, existing in marginalized bodies and spaces is a politicized experience, and we do not shy away from recognizing and embracing that. It is our goal to lift marginalized voices to celebrate our existence and speak out against our oppressors, to mourn our losses and support one another.
The Pridefest 2020 Zine is sponsored by the Iowa State University Library.
